BACKGROUND
We created a web game where players navigate Chicago after dark, using dance and friendship to battle larger-than-life characters and discover Lollapalooza's featured artists line up. The Legend of Lolla pays homage to classic RPG games, recalling the nostalgia of late-night Pokémon battles and epic Final Fantasy fights.

I worked on various character designs, environments, and animations for the game, collaborating closely with our developers and artists.

We designed The Legend of Lolla with nostalgia at its core, tapping into the childhood memories of festival fans. This resonated, with users averaging 4 minutes and 18 seconds of playtime, totaling 191 days of engagement. The game also sparked activity on Reddit and Discord, with players sharing dance combos and even hacking the source code to find all the band names.
